Submarine supports most common video formats, such as mp4, mov, mkv, avi, wmv, etc.

We recommend using the free macOS video player IINA (https://iina.io/). It supports displaying subtitles. To add a subtitle to a video, play the video using IINA, and drag the subtitle file into the player.

Submarine supports the following languages from the input video and the generated subtitle: English, Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian.

The transcription quality determines the accuracy of speech-to-text conversion. A machine learning model needs to be downloaded for transcription. Higher quality models provide better accuracy but require larger file sizes and longer processing times. We recommend starting from the fastest model and going up if needed.

The translation quality determines the accuracy of the translation from the input to the output language. A large language model needs to be downloaded for translation. Higher quality models provide better accuracy but require larger file sizes and longer processing times. We recommend starting from the fastest model and going up if needed.
